At first sight.

1966 December 31

It was mid afternoon on New Years Eve 1966, on the corridor in the nurses home at Rauceby Hospital. I was on my way to the kitchen to make a drink, coming towards me was this beautiful girl with long blonde hair, dressed in a mauve sweater, a mauve kilt and brown leather shoes. When she got close by she stopped and asked me if I knew what time the buses left Rauceby for Grantham? I told her that I was new to this neck of the woods and therefore couldn't help. She said thank you and carried on along the corridor. After a few yards I turned round to have a second look, only to find her doing exactly the same. It then took me until April 1967 to pluck up enough courage to ask her out for a date, which must have gone reasonably well, because after courting Rosemarie for the next three years I proposed to her at Easter 1970 and we were married later that summer on 25th of July at St. Mary's RC Church in Grantham.
